Jamf pro extension attributes12/5/2023 We are gearing up for an internal release with macOS 14 and have it available on SAP’s official open-source home before the end of the year. Track Power Monitor's output as an extension attribute with Jamf Pro □️ designed for enterprise use to support MDM’s custom device attributes like Jamf Pro’s Extension attributes or automation mechanisms.⚙️ CO2 footprint calculation customizable via MDM-profile.□ tracking and visualizing real time and average power consumption for the employee.□ a lightweight native macOS app written in Objective-C and C for best performance. Therefore, we decided to write our own solution.Īs part of our mission to give back to the larger #AppleAtWork and #MacAdmins community how we run Mac at SAP I am proud to share a sneak peek of our next open-source tool – Power Monitor. There was no non-commercial product available that was lightweight and that offered macOS-native enterprise features. When we were searching into measuring live power consumption of our individual Macs, we were facing challenges. Use cases for extension attributes Extension attributes can be used in many powerful ways. These can be in the form of a text field, drop-down menu, LDAP mapping or script. This means is that the application in Azure AD does not need to be manually created. After successful authentication, an application for Jamf Pro is automatically added in Azure AD to use the Graph API. This is an exercise I encourage every organization that is using Macs to investigate. An extension attribute allows you to collect extra inventory from your computers or mobile devices. When setting up the Graph API connection between Jamf Pro and Azure AD, a global administrator user is required to authenticate. And when we dived into the data that Apple is providing on their environmental page and combined that with our Mac’s inventory information, we were able to see that our 20% growth of Macs in combination with our adoption to Apple Silicon accounted for an average decrease in our carbon footprint in the SAP Mac workplace. I shared in the past how satisfied we are with the adoption of Apple Silicon. The focus on sustainability is reflected in our overall strategy, in our product line and of course in how we run Mac at SAP. SAP’s approach to sustainability is part of our strategy to achieve zero emissions, zero waste and zero inequality.
